I think that it is so amazing what beautiful minds and strength our family has. I mean, when we put our minds to something we really believe in, there is no place we cannot go. All of this is expressed in our family member’s occupations: Sam Smith, Ollie, Cynthia, Cleo, and Dorothy Quadri (which you will find on the family business page). The daughter of Winnie Washington and a proud parent of Sophia Washington, Victor and Fancy Quadri, Dorothy has been a help to the community, city and state. She has done this by starting the first charter school in Providence, Rhode Island, and the first family center in the Providence school. Now she does not stop there, she also started the first black women support group. Talking about god’s gift, she is. This week we celebrate not only strong black women but also successful women like Dorothy Quadri. Thank you for your help, love, and support. We are proud of what you are doing. We love you.

I would like to take the time to acknowledge a man in Mississippi who has accomplished so much for his family. Considered as only a brother and a son, many would say he is also a father, though he has no children of his own. He and his brother have been the male figures to their nieces and nephews. Sometimes we take people for granted when they are not in there best. Sometimes we do not look behind the curtain to see what is really going on. Stress can change a person whole personality, and we have to be aware of that at all time. This acknowledgment is for Isaac T. Friday.

Isaac T. Friday has been helping his mother and sisters and brothers and there children not to have to struggle as his mother did. Linda Friday was a single mother who raised her children the best she could. When I was in Elementary she was my favorite aunt, and Isaac was one of my oldest cousins. He is a father to those who did not have one or who had fathers but some how were too far away. Isaac attended Lanier High School, which was considered one of the worst schools in Jackson. Nevertheless, he made it through. Isaac then continued his education by attending the historical Tougaloo College, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Computer Technology. He has been working with the WIC program and has help raise his sister, brother, nieces and nephews.

What is so amazing through all of this, was that, his brother is the first in the family (of Winnie Washington, mother of Linda Friday) to get married, along with gaining a beautiful and smart stepdaughter. His sister Wendy Friday is a childcare giver with three beautiful children. Her children is so important because, like every child they are there own bright individual. They are smart, outspoken, loving, and are becoming the most well mannered young adults. David Friday (his brother and the first to get married in the family), has severed as not only and uncle to his nieces and nephews, but as a mentor to Trevon Friday (Wendy Friday’s son). Trevon is excelling in his studies as well as in all sports as the star player of most of the sports he plays. You see, the help that David got from his brother Isaac has rubbed of on him as being a helping and caring adult.

Why am I righting this article? Because today, Trevon had a father/son lunch at his school and Isaac was there as his father, and if Isaac was not there David would have been. I bet you, when Trevon get to be an adult, it will pass down to him of being a modest caring man, and that is what our community need, Men. In this reoccurring setting, we will be the start and the finish. Each time this generation expands into another generation, it too expands the expectation of how far the next generation will get. Just by one person making sacrifices can start a new trend of men or women in our community. This is a perfect example. Trevon do not prove me wrong. Love ya’ll. Thank you Isaac, David, Iron, Trevon, Charlie, and Cortez, Daniel, Victor, Fancy, Sam, Ollie, Cleo (and more to come) For striving to be better men, helpful men, caring men, successful men.

If you know of any people in the family who has inspiration, please send your letters to Yoshi8480@hotmail.com to be posted.

Sophia Washington- Is a Criminal Justice Major at CCRI, and a Case Manager in Rhode Island. Her goals are aimed at becoming a detective and one day finding the killer of her brother and our cousin Michael Washington (RIP). She is loyally continuing the investigation of our loved and never forgotten family members murderous death. Michael was killed in the parking lot of an apartment complex where most of our family members live and hang out. At the time of his murder, he was outside with a friend working on his car. There is said to be several events leasing up to his death. These events include people Michael had conflicts with days before, giving plenty of motives. Sophia says that because she is so far away, there is little to be done about this tragic event. In her investigation, she has found evidence that the city was not adamant with the investigation and with responding to the call of help. Sophia says that because she is a civilian that she is not able to get the information she need to complete her task of finding her brothers killer. Therefore we must help her. Her last option is to hire a detective to go where she can't, in the system. She has now raised $2000 and needs the total amount of $4000, to hire such a person. We are therefore asking for help at raising these funds, with a minimum donation to helping find justice for Michael’s death. Though Michael isn't her physically, he is here in our hearts. We want to get this killer off the streets before another life is claimed, by the same gun on the same family.

Cynthia Wiseman- Just received her Real state license this year.
